Tengku Amir Hamzah whose full Tengku Amir Hamzah Prince Indera Son (born in Tanjung Pura, Langkat, East Sumatra, February 28, 1911 - died in Kuala Begumit, March 20, 1946 at the age of 35 years) is an Indonesian literary force New Poet. He was born in a noble family Melayu (Sultanate Langkat) and many involved in the nature of Malay literature and culture.


 Amir Hamzah attended high school and lived on the island of Java at the time of the independence movement and a sense of nationhood Indonesia rose. Amir Hamzah was killed in the Social Revolution of East Sumatra hit the eastern coast of Sumatra in the early years of Indonesia's independence. He was named a National Hero of Indonesia by Presidential Decree No. 106/1975, dated 3 November 1975.
